What a memorable evening! MVO delivered an inspiring blend of first-rate music and dining in an intimate setting. The event opened with a round of light appetizers and a look at the silent-auction items. This was followed by superb vocal performances in the dining area, where all seats were within 30 feet of the singers. I love attending a performance in this type of venue; it makes me feel as if the musicians are singing just for me and my date. The vocal selections were familiar to opera fans but showed a wide variety of styles and roles, with solos, duets, trios, and quartets on the program. Often the singers added some staging to the numbers and even moved through the audience, sometimes including audience members in the operatic flirting—corny but delightful. The evening progressed with a course of food followed by a course of singing, several times over. Food offerings were excellent and plentiful and included gluten-free options (except dessert). If MVO held the same event a few weeks later, I would go again!.
